DA Offshore Compliant DNVGL-ST-E271 Introduction

DNVGL-ST-E271 compliant is crucial to DA Offshore lifting. When Offshore exploration of the North Sea began, the extreme temperature and rough seas created too challenging environment to sustain basic lifting equipment average lifespans. The harsh surroundings called for dynamic lifting solutions and the industry required better practices and certifications for safety. DNV GL offered a solution in May 1989 with the introduction of the DNVGL-ST-E271 standard.

The standard by DNV GL certifies the categories by designing, testing, and manufacturing of Offshore containers and lifting hardware can withstand the most extreme conditions. For example, YOKE Swivel Point certified by DNV GL-ST-0378 for Offshore and Platform Lifting is designed to operate down to -40 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees Fahrenheit). It is also Charpy impact tested at -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit).

The DNVGL-ST-E271 standard applies to not only the environment into which the containers and equipment will be placed, but also the transportation. The most recent revision of DNVGL-ST-E271 includes international codes for safety while the initial design and strength requirements remain the same. The most important revisions to the standard are the expansion of calculations on lifting sets and the inclusion of calculations for containers; and lifting equipment in temperate climates, as well.

Every single DA master link, DA hook, DA shackle, and DA swivel point at YOKE is made with quality raw materials and finished with controlled processes as defined by the DNVGL-ST-E271 standard to ensure the safety of all personnel and equipment involved.

Safety is our first priority.
